The house
Casa Es Caragoler
the house
The name of our house is Casa Es Caragolér, the House of the Snail. It doesn’t look like one, though, true as it is to the Ibiza style of architecture. Our Grandmother built and furnished the house with much love and attention to details in 1973. At that time, this was one of only 6 houses on this street! She spent many Christmas, Easter, and summer holidays here and now we are the third and fourth generation enjoying endless summers here.

It is quite a large house, about 200 m2 with four good-size bedrooms accommodating up to eight persons. The heart of the house is the rectangular courtyard through which you enter all the rooms but one. The courtyard is full of plants and is a perfect place to relax in the shade during a hot summer’s day.

The living and dining room is spacious, has a fireplace and like the bedrooms it is almost completely furnished in the local style. The living room is designed with a round sofa facing the fireplace, and the dining section is circular with a round table seating eight persons. You have a wide view of the sea from anywhere in the room.

Two of the bedrooms have two beds and two have a double bed. All the bedrooms have their own bathroom, and three of them have doors opening directly out to the garden.

The roof of the house is where you dry your laundry and where you have a 360 degrees view of the region, from the Mediterranean and the Bay of Mondrago to the Castell de Santueri, resting on a mountaintop above Felanitx.

On the west side of the house, soaking in all of the evening sun, we have an outdoor barbecue, with an extra dining table.

The garden. The pool. Swimming in the sea
the area
The garden is large, about 2000 m2 (including the house), half of it allowed to grow freely and thus creating a very private space around the house itself. The pool is 3,8 m x 9 m, with a depth of 1,4 m up to 2,5 m. However pleasant it is to take a dip in the pool, do not forget the absolute essence of a stay in Es Caragolér during the summer months: a swim in the Mediterranean from the cliff beneath the houses of our neighbours with whom we share stairs and a ladder. From May to October, the sea is warm and swimming and snorkelling beneath the beautiful rocks is an unforgettable, invigorating experience.
